Takuma Tahara Solo Exhibition

2年前、オランダでの1年間の生活を終えて帰国し、東京での暮らしを始めたとき、ふとある違和感を覚えました。それは、街ゆく人たちの「姿勢」のことでした。 これまで旅したヨーロッパの国々では、人々がまっすぐ前を向いて歩く姿が印象的でした。しかし、ここ東京では、膨大な数の人々が同じように背中を丸め、スマートフォンの画面を見つめて歩いています。そのあまりに均質な佇まいは、私の中に強い印象として残りました。 姿勢が丸くなり視界が狭まると、心まで内向きになり、思考も沈んでしまう気がします。私自身、東京の日常に浸る中で、気づけば同じように背中を丸めていることが少なくありません。 そんな日々のささやかな気づきが、今回の制作のきっかけとなりました。 本展のタイトル『unsung』は、「讃えられることのない」という意味を持っています。 誰に注目されることもない日々の営みの中で、私たちが無意識に保っている、それぞれの「姿勢」。それは、この街で実直に生き、目立たなくても社会を支えている名もなき人たちの姿であり、日本人が持つ謙虚さや、ひたむきさの表れなのかもしれません。 本展では、見過ごされがちな身体の佇まいや、静かな個々の輪郭に焦点を当て、その多様な姿勢をシンプルな形と直線的な色彩で表現しました。これらは現代を生きる私たちの日常の記録であり、一人ひとりの確かな存在の提示です。 作品の前に立ったとき、それが一枚の「鏡」のように、ご自身の今の姿を見つめ直すきっかけになれば幸いです。
Two years ago, after a year in the Netherlands, I returned to live in Tokyo and noticed a subtle disconnect: the "posture" of people on the street. In the European countries I had traveled through, people walked with their eyes forward. Here in Tokyo, however, vast crowds move in unison—hunched over, eyes fixed on their smartphones. When our posture rounds, our vision narrows, and our minds turn inward. Living in this city, I often found myself doing the same. This small awareness became the catalyst for this exhibition. The title unsung means "not praised or celebrated." It speaks to the individual postures we unconsciously maintain within our unnoticed daily routines. They reflect the nameless people who honestly support our society from the background, perhaps embodying a sense of Japanese humility and quiet perseverance. In this exhibition, focusing on these overlooked bodily stances and quiet contours, I expressed their diverse postures through simple forms and linear colors. These works are both a record of our contemporary daily life and an assertion of each person’s distinct existence. When you stand before these pieces, I hope they act as a mirror to reflect on your own present self.
